End Caps / Hoods
The end caps/hoods are manufactured from .081 aluminum so they are light and rust proof. The rear end cap/hood is removable so farmers can detach it easily to haul water tanks or do other farm chores and is designed to allow easy clean out of box by allowing the tailgate to swing completely open. A 1½ “ wind deflector on front end cap/hood prevents wind from getting under the tarp fabric.
The cross members/hoops are made of 1" galvanized pipe bent to shape. The galvanization prevents rust and the bow shape allows bigger loads. Hoops are removable to accommodate water tanks, bales etc.
Standard Tarp Stops or Flip Release Tarp Stops
Optional Quick Release tarp stops are available in 3” or 6” offset to allow for easy tarp removal. Pulling a pin on each unit releases the tube that holds the tarp to the side of the grain body.
Tension Control & Locking System
Tension Control is hidden from the elements inside the roll tube consisting of a non-stretch rope attached to a spring to endure the harsh winter climates.
The locking system consists of a splined universal joint for quick and easy tension adjustment.
Tarp Fabric
The tarp fabric is a 19 oz. polyester scrim, coated with Canadian made P.V.C. The edges are doubled over creating reinforced edges. The tarp material has heat welded seams to prevent leakage and a centre stiffener rod sewn into the tarp for added support. The extra wide fabric allows for heaping the load.
Options
- choice of standard or reverse roll (reverse roll locks closed on passenger side)
- bar sealed cross member/hoop reinforcements
- Custom manufactured to fit specific width and length of potato bed
End Caps
- Manufactured from 14 Gauge steel which is then primed and painted
- Specially designed end caps prevent potatoes from sitting on the top edge of the bed wall
- End caps measure 20 inches in height allowing you to cover your heaped load
Tension Control System
- Extension springs along with beveled pulleys on both ends of the tarp apply constant and uniform pressure to keep your tarp rolling evenly
- A specially designed locking flange is used to lock the roll tube in the closed position
Sidewall Structure
- The specially designed sidewall structure acts as an extension assisting the end caps in providing room for heaped loads without the use of cross-members. This enables the harvest boom to be lowered into the bed to minimize the drop height of the potatoes, thus reducing bruising.
Electrical System
- A 12 volt electric motor, supported on a pivot arm is used to rotate the roll tube to open and close your tarp.
- The pivot arm is attached to the motor and to the bottom ledge of the potato bed
